Custom cakes price cleanly: a base design fee, a per-serving rate, and delivery if they want it brought to the venue. One formula quotes a smash cake or a wedding tier.

Quick formula: Base fee + servings × rate + delivery when selected:

=B2+C2*D2+IF(E2="Yes",F2,0)

A 24-serving birthday cake — $50 base, $4.50 a serving, delivered — quotes at $183.

The formula

Three terms, with IF gating the delivery fee:

=B2+C2*D2+IF(E2="Yes",F2,0) // base + servings x rate + delivery if chosen

How it works

Each term maps to a line on the order form:

B2 is the base design fee — it covers consultation, design, and setup regardless of size.
C2*D2 scales with the guest count: servings times your per-serving rate.
IF(E2="Yes",F2,0) adds the delivery fee only when the customer chooses delivery.

Tiered and sculpted designs usually raise the base fee, not the per-serving rate — the design work does not scale with servings.

Pitfalls & errors

Never fold delivery into the per-serving rate — pickup customers overpay and delivery customers underpay, and both eventually notice.

Set the base fee to cover your design consult time even if the order is small; a 10-serving sculpted cake is still hours of work.
